In a recent post, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10 will feature a thinner design and a larger screen. The highly anticipated watch is slated for release in September, coinciding with Apple’s typical launch schedule for new wearables and iPhones.
Kuo noted that the screen sizes of the two Apple Watch models will see a significant increase, with the smaller version growing from 41 millimeters to 44 millimeters, and the larger model expanding from 45 millimeters to 49 millimeters.
While the specifications of the Apple Watch Ultra are expected to remain largely unchanged, Kuo mentioned the potential introduction of a darker case option, provided that production yields meet the required standards.
Starting in the latter half of the year, the new watch will incorporate components manufactured using 3D printing technology. Although Apple has not yet mass-produced devices with this technology, it successfully tested 3D printing for the Apple Watch Series 9 in 2023. This testing aimed to reduce both manufacturing time and material usage, leading to a “significant improvement” in production efficiency, according to Kuo.
Bright Laser Technologies, a China-based company, will be the supplier of these 3D-printed components. Kuo anticipates that the demand for their parts will rise in the coming years due to the cost benefits of 3D printing. He also suggested that the technology could be employed in the future production of Apple Watch cases.
