Base Carbon Expands Inventory with New Article 6 Carbon Credits

On October 25, 2024, Base Carbon announced it has received the delivery of over 1 million Article 6 Authorized carbon credits through its ongoing project in Rwanda. This milestone builds on the company’s commitment to scaling carbon reduction efforts and supporting local communities through carbon credits that meet stringent verification standards. Base Carbon’s portfolio includes carbon credits from projects in multiple regions, aimed at advancing sustainability through forest restoration and clean energy initiatives.

The Rwanda cookstove project specifically focuses on the distribution of energy-efficient cookstoves to rural households, reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality. The project has achieved the delivery of 700,000 carbon credits to date, with an additional 1,014,635 credits recently received. This volume is net of 23,060 carbon credits which have been retired to contribute towards global emission reductions and 115,300 carbon credits to be made available to the Government of Rwanda pursuant to the terms of the LOA. This Article 6 label is significant as it aligns with the Paris Agreement guidelines, making these credits highly valuable for global corporations looking to offset emissions. Additionally, Base Carbon’s Vietnam project, anticipated to yield another 1.8 million credits by late Q4 2024, focuses on household devices that lower emissions from daily activities.

By financing these projects and leveraging partnerships with local organizations, Base Carbon aims to provide enduring environmental and social benefits, making these Article 6 credits instrumental in achieving sustainable development goals.
