Black Swan Graphene to Triple Production Capacity with New Advanced System

Black Swan Graphene Inc. (TSXV: SWAN, OTCQX: BSWGF, FSE: R960) is set to significantly expand its graphene production capacity, ordering a next-generation production unit that will increase annual output from 40 tonnes to 140 tonnes. This expansion more than triples the company’s current capacity and positions Black Swan among the leading global producers of graphene-enhanced materials.

The new production system, the GEA Ariete 3160, will be installed at Black Swan’s existing facility in Consett, United Kingdom, operated in collaboration with Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd. This location already has the necessary infrastructure, including power and utilities, which will help reduce capital costs and speed up installation and commercial scaling.

The 3160 unit is a modular, scalable high-pressure homogenizer designed specifically for industrial-scale production of graphene nanoplatelets. Developed in partnership with GEA, a global leader in high-pressure homogenization, the system is tailored to Black Swan’s proprietary exfoliation process. This process has been refined over more than a decade of collaboration and enables the cost-effective and reliable production of high-quality graphene products. The new equipment is expected to be installed in the short term, marking a critical step in Black Swan’s industrial scale-up strategy.

Demand for graphene is rising across various industries, including polymers, concrete, and advanced composites. Black Swan’s expanded capacity will support existing customers and open opportunities with new strategic partners requiring scalable and dependable graphene supply. The company’s commercial agreements and growing sales pipeline have driven the need for this capacity increase.

Simon Marcotte, President and CEO of Black Swan, highlighted the significance of this development: “This expansion marks a pivotal milestone in our evolution; it is not just an increase in production capacity, but another step toward industrial scale. As demand for our products increases and several customer development programs are advancing, this investment positions us to meet both current and future market needs with confidence.”

Black Swan has already launched seven Graphene Enhanced Masterbatch™ (GEM) polymer products, which have been well received in the market. Additionally, the company’s concrete admixtures, developed in partnership with Concretene and The University of Manchester’s Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre, have demonstrated potential to reduce cement use and carbon emissions by up to 30%. The new production system will ensure these products can be delivered at scale with the consistency required by global clients.

Michael Edwards, Chief Operating Officer, emphasized the company’s role in the transition of graphene from promise to practical deployment: “Graphene-enhanced materials are moving from promise to deployment, and Black Swan is at the center of that transition. With our GEM polymer products now in commercial rollout and our concrete admixtures showing clear sustainability gains, our ability to deliver consistently and at scale is what sets us apart.”

The investment in the new production unit is partly funded by proceeds from Black Swan’s recent equity financing. In addition to the equipment purchase, the funds have supported hiring key sales and operations personnel to enhance the company’s global client service and deepen commercial engagement.

Black Swan Graphene focuses on large-scale production and commercialization of patented, high-performance, low-cost graphene products targeting volume-driven industrial sectors such as concrete and polymers. Its graphene processing technology was developed by Thomas Swan, a UK-based global chemicals manufacturer with a century-long history of innovation in advanced materials. Since 2024, Black Swan has launched seven commercially available GEM polymer products, which are currently being tested by several international clients.

With this expansion, Black Swan is set to meet growing market demand and strengthen its position as a global supplier of graphene-enhanced materials, supporting sustainable and advanced industrial applications.
