CodeRabbit Secures $60 Million to Advance AI-Powered Code Review

CodeRabbit, a rapidly growing startup focused on AI-driven code review, has raised $60 million in a Series B funding round led by Scale Venture Partners. With participation from NVIDIA’s venture capital arm NVentures and several returning investors, this round brings CodeRabbit’s total funding to $88 million. The company is now valued at around $550 million. The fresh capital is earmarked to fuel global expansion, accelerate product development, and enhance its platform capabilities. 

Founded just two years ago by entrepreneur Harjot Gill, CodeRabbit emerged from a clear need in the software industry: as AI tools like GitHub Copilot generate more code, teams are overwhelmed with the task of reviewing the increasing volume of code for quality and bugs. Gill observed early on that AI-assisted code creation, while accelerating output, was creating a bottleneck in the review process that could slow down software delivery and reduce the expected efficiency gains from AI coding tools. 

Unlike generic automated checks, CodeRabbit’s AI engine deeply understands the specific context of a company’s codebase. This allows it to identify subtle bugs and offer actionable feedback tailored to the unique environment of each developer or team. Rather than replacing human reviewers, CodeRabbit acts as an intelligent colleague, catching issues early and reducing the manual workload by as much as 50%. This means engineering teams can redirect effort towards more complex and creative tasks. 

The startup’s growth has been swift. Its business expands monthly by about 20%, with the latest reports indicating revenue exceeding $15 million annually. The platform is trusted by diverse clients including Chegg, Groupon, and Mercury, along with more than 8,000 individual developers worldwide. These users rely on CodeRabbit to navigate the challenge of verifying AI-generated code, which although fast, often contains errors that require extensive correction. 

This surge in AI-generated coding has also sparked a new role in the tech industry known informally as the “vibe code cleanup specialist,” professionals tasked with cleaning up the imperfect code AI produces. Even with advanced AI tools, automatic correction remains unreliable, so CodeRabbit’s solution focuses on detecting bugs precisely and helping teams maintain shipping confidence without compromising speed or quality. 

The latest update to the CodeRabbit platform extends its AI review capabilities to the command line interface (CLI) in addition to existing support across various integrated development environments and Git platforms. This broader integration aims to make quality gates an inherent part of the coding workflow, enabling teams to ship code faster while maintaining high standards. 

The competitive landscape includes startups like Graphite and Greptile, and features from major players like GitHub, Anthropic, and Cursor. However, CodeRabbit’s founder believes the company’s dedicated, standalone approach offers a depth of analysis that broader AI coding suites cannot match, suggesting a lasting market need for specialized code review solutions.
