Decades Apart, Two Drill Programs at the Same Gold Property Tell a Consistent Story

Deep within Quebec’s Abitibi region, a piece of ground known as the Duquesne West gold property is producing drill results that offer a good reason to pay closer attention. Globex Mining Enterprises Inc. (TSX: GMX) has announced that Emperor Metals Inc. (CSE: AUOZ) has reported continued intersections of high-grade gold at Duquesne West, a property under option from Duparquet Assets Ltd., which is 50% owned by Globex.

The latest result comes from drill hole DQ 26-20, drilled within what the companies refer to as the conceptual Main Pit area. Assays from that hole returned 61.5 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold over 15.0 metres, including several occurrences of visible gold. To put that number in perspective, the industry generally considers anything above 5 g/t to be high-grade gold. Grades exceeding 20 g/t are often categorized as bonanza-grade, meaning gold is present in exceptionally high concentrations relative to the surrounding rock. A reading of 61.5 g/t sits well above both thresholds.

What makes this result particularly interesting is the geological context surrounding it. Within the 15-metre high-grade section, two adjoining intervals returned 557.5 g/t over 1.4 metres and 100.9 g/t over 1.0 metre. These extreme concentrations sit inside a wider halo of lower but still anomalous gold values, giving an overall intersection of 26.09 g/t Au across 35.8 metres. In mining exploration, this kind of structure, where narrow bonanza zones are wrapped by broader lower-grade material, is considered meaningful because it can support both selective high-grade mining and larger-scale bulk tonnage extraction scenarios.

There is also a historical thread worth noting. The new high-grade intersection occurs 35 metres down plunge from a 1995 drill hole completed by Sante-Fe Canadian Mining, which returned 20.9 g/t Au over 16.0 metres. “Down plunge” refers to the direction a mineralized zone trends as it extends deeper into the earth. Finding a comparable or stronger result 35 metres further along that trend suggests the mineralized system did not simply stop at the older hole. That kind of continuity, spanning three decades and two separate programs, adds a layer of geological credibility to the deposit.

The Duquesne West property currently hosts an inferred mineral resource estimate of 26.9 million tonnes containing 1.46 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 1.69 g/t Au. An inferred resource is an early-stage estimate based on limited but geologically reasonable data. It does not indicate a mine is imminent, but it provides a baseline for understanding the scale of what is being explored.

The current program is one of the most ambitious undertaken at the site. The 2026 campaign is designed to combine 15,000 metres of new drilling with 8,000 metres of resampling of historical drill core, contributing roughly 23,000 metres of data in total to refine and expand the geological model. As of the most recent update, results have been reported for approximately 6,500 metres, while the company has completed around 15,300 metres of drilling and remains well below budget. That means a significant portion of assay results is still to come.

The property sits in a region with a long and well-documented gold mining history. The Abitibi Greenstone Belt, which straddles Quebec and Ontario, is the largest mineral-rich formation of its kind, stretching 450 kilometres long and 150 kilometres wide. It has produced over 200 million ounces of gold to date, with estimates suggesting at least another 100 million ounces remain. Duquesne West sits 32 kilometres northwest of Rouyn-Noranda and 10 kilometres east of the town of Duparquet, within the historic Duparquet gold mining camp in the southern portion of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.

The disclosure was prepared by Jack Stoch, P.Geo., Executive Chairman and CEO of Globex, acting as a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101, the Canadian regulatory standard for reporting mineral exploration results.

Results of this grade, in a region with this pedigree, at a property with this amount of drilling still ahead, represent exactly the kind of developing story that tends to attract more attention as the remaining assays work their way back from the lab.
