Lavras Gold Corp. (TSXV: LGC, OTCQX: LGCFF) has announced promising drill results from its Butiá Gold Deposit, part of the LDS Project in southern Brazil. The latest drilling campaign, encompassing 18 new holes, has successfully intersected significant gold mineralization, reinforcing the company’s focus on defining an economically viable gold resource.
The drilling program yielded notable results, including:
- Hole 24BT034: An impressive 123.0 meters grading 1.8 g/t gold from 69.0 meters, featuring higher-grade subintervals such as 21.0 meters grading 4.1 g/t gold.
- Hole 24BT036: A substantial 191.0 meters grading 1.0 g/t gold from 50.0 meters, which included a high-grade section of 26.0 meters grading 3.8 g/t gold, and a further one-meter grading 37.2 g/t gold.
These intersections highlight the continuity and grade of the gold mineralization at Butiá, supporting the potential for a bulk-tonnage mining operation.
Lavras Gold is actively advancing the Butiá Gold Deposit towards economic feasibility through its current drilling program. The company is focusing on two main objectives: increasing confidence in the existing gold resource by converting Inferred Resources to the Measured and Indicated categories and expanding the gold endowment of the deposit by exploring potential extensions.
In parallel, the company has engaged SGS Laboratory to conduct comprehensive metallurgical testing on Butiá mineralization. This testing is a critical step in de-risking the project and optimizing future gold recovery processes.
Michael Durose, President & CEO of Lavras Gold, emphasized the importance of these results: “The new drilling results continue to demonstrate the excellent near-surface gold grade and continuity of the Butiá Gold Deposit… This drilling has also significantly increased our depth of understanding of the geological controls to mineralization.”
Durose also noted the ongoing exploration efforts at the Fazenda do Posto target and the Caneleira Concession, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding its resource base in the LDS Project area.
The Butiá Gold Deposit is the most advanced project within the LDS Project, with a current Mineral Resource Estimate of 377,000 ounces of gold in the Measured and Indicated categories, and 115,000 ounces of gold in the Inferred category. The ongoing drilling program is designed to build upon this resource and enhance the project’s economic potential.
The drilling results confirm the presence of continuous gold mineralization along a northeast-trending structural corridor. Gold grades tend to increase towards the northwest, where sulphide-bearing episyenite is prevalent. Continuous, moderate-grade gold is also found in the southeast, typically associated with mineralized perthitic granite.
Lavras Gold anticipates releasing an update on drilling results from the Fazenda do Posto target soon, pending final assay results and geological interpretation. The company’s continuous exploration and development efforts underscore its commitment to unlocking the full potential of the LDS Project and creating value for shareholders.
