Sitka Gold Corp has released drilling results from its flagship RC Gold Project in Yukon, further solidifying the project’s potential as a major gold resource. The latest drilling campaign, particularly drill hole DDRCCC24-061, intersected 290.5 meters of mineralization at an average grade of 1.10 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. Within this, a higher-grade core of 105 meters returned 1.68 g/t gold. These results are a continuation of previous successes, such as drill hole DDRCCC23-047, which intercepted 219 meters grading 1.34 g/t gold, including a high-grade section of 55 meters at 3.11 g/t gold.
The 2024 drilling program has focused on expanding the known resource at the Blackjack zone, where visible gold continues to be identified, notably in hole DDRCCC24-067. This has prompted optimism about extending the high-grade mineralized zones deeper and to the south. To date, Sitka has drilled approximately 5,050 meters across 10 holes in 2024, with most drill targets aimed at further delineating the South Blackjack stock, which has shown consistent gold occurrences from surface to depths exceeding 500 meters.
Sitka’s RC Gold Project is located in the highly prospective Tombstone Gold Belt, a region known for hosting significant gold deposits. The project spans 431 square kilometers and is strategically positioned between the Eagle Gold Mine and the past-producing Brewery Creek Mine. The RC Gold Project already has reported an initial inferred mineral resource of 1.34 million ounces of gold, spread across two primary deposits: the Blackjack and Eiger zones. Blackjack alone contains 900,000 ounces of gold grading 0.83 g/t, while the Eiger zone holds 440,000 ounces at 0.68 g/t.
Recent assays and visual observations indicate that the gold mineralization continues beyond the current resource estimate, potentially increasing the inferred resource in the near future. This could drive further exploration activity and significantly increase the overall value of the project. The RC Gold Project is currently road-accessible and is amenable to open-pit mining and heap leaching, with initial tests indicating gold recoveries as high as 94%, which bodes well for the project’s economic viability.
Sitka Gold’s ongoing exploration and drilling success place the RC Gold Project in a strong position to grow its resource base, potentially moving it toward a more advanced stage of development in the Yukon’s robust mining district.
