Grupo Bimbo, the global baking giant, is kicking off the second edition of “The Bimbo Dream,” a contest that will give 49 young girls from around the world the chance to train at FC Barcelona’s facilities in Spain. This initiative, part of Bimbo’s partnership with FC Barcelona and FC Barcelona Femení, aims to nurture female soccer talent and promote healthy lifestyles.
The contest is open to girls aged 10-13 from 22 countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Forty-two participants will be selected through a competitive process, while seven spots are reserved for girls from Bimbo’s existing social programs in Central and South America. The winners will enjoy a four-day training experience at FC Barcelona’s world-class facilities and meet Aitana Bonmatí, the star midfielder of FC Barcelona Femení. This opportunity not only allows young players to hone their skills but also provides inspiration from one of the sport’s rising stars.
Alberto Levy, Bimbo’s Global Marketing VP, expressed enthusiasm for the program: “Through this global initiative, we will empower female talent while promoting healthy eating habits, teaching them to create delicious, nutritious sandwiches that fuel their physical performance.”
The selection process involves submitting a video application showcasing the applicant’s passion for soccer. A panel of judges in each country will evaluate entries based on criteria including semi-professional playing experience and proper documentation for international travel.
The contest builds on Bimbo’s ongoing partnership with FC Barcelona, which began in 2022. The collaboration aims to develop female talent, promote gender equality, and emphasize nutrition and healthy lifestyles among young sports enthusiasts. The inaugural edition of The Bimbo Dream in 2024 brought together 55 girls from 22 countries, setting a precedent for this year’s expanded program.
Grupo Bimbo’s commitment to youth and sports extends beyond this contest. The company operates social programs like “Dream Champions” in Central America and “Futbolito Bimbo” in South America, which focus on developing young soccer talent and promoting healthy lifestyles.
As a global leader in the baking industry, Grupo Bimbo operates 223 plants and over 1,500 sales points across 35 countries.
As Grupo Bimbo continues to expand its global presence and social initiatives, The Bimbo Dream represents a significant step in the company’s commitment to supporting youth development and promoting women’s soccer on an international scale.
The Bimbo Dream contest is accepting applications until April 7th, 2025. Parents or guardians of eligible girls can find more information and apply through the official website at https://nourishdreams.com/.
